HTI2 - Journal Week 01 'Industrial Revolution'

Local 'Industrial Revolution' examples can be seen with phones and technology. The first handheld phone made its first call in Singapore in 1988. Most Singaporeans have not owned a handheld phone yet so they have to contact their friends via landline or public phone booths at local coffeeshops.

As designers, our role in an industry-sensitive culture is to design with upcoming new technologies. The image above is showing that families are gathering in front of a television to watch shows together, this requires enough space in the living room so that everyone in the family can get to watch the television comfortably. However, as technology had improved, we don't gather around the television to watch shows anymore as we can have access to unlimited entertainment online via our mobile phones and tablet. This change in technology has also created a distance in my family as we don't gather in the same place to watch shows together anymore.
