Other local 'Hyper-Consumerist' examples in Singapore such as the recent launch of Uniqlo collaboration with Jill Sander, a German designer who has been dubbed as the "Queen of Minimalism". The collection is called "Uniqlo's +J"

Uniqlo's +J Fall/Winter 2020 Collection launched in Singapore on November 2020. The launch is only available at local Uniqlo's flagship store at Orchard Central, online, and selected Uniqlo stores. The lineup includes 37 items for women, 25 items for men and four accessories. It was reported by the Straits Times that around 160 people were seen queueing up at 10:30am amidst the Covid-19 pandemic when the store is opened at 11am.

As designers, our role in a hyper-consumerist society is to deter such behavior that is contributing to hyper-consumerism globally. We can design a space with hostile architecture or a very narrow area so that it will discourage people to queue and camp at launches.
