The institutions supporting design
I do not think that the government should control designs and designers alike. They should give designers the freedom to express themselves therefore allowing new and innovative designs to be created.
Foreign influencers in design
One of the foreign influences in design that we can see locally is The Hive at Nanyang Technological University designed by Heatherwick. Heatherwick Studio is known for having no signature style, and to design soulful and interesting places which embraces and celebrate the complexities of the real world.
The Hive is covered in beautiful vegetation with open buildings, concrete, exposed brick, and pitched clay-tiled roofs. Allowing natural air to flow through, to create a new kind of learning environment for the digital age. It also encourages to bring people together with spontaneous dialogues and exchanges, therefore, able to act as a social place as well.
